HOW DOES THIS PLANT GROW?

Gardening is rewarding because of the things a person can create. Not only a flower crop or display, but a vegetable garden can also supply a whole family livelihood, until the crop is harvested. Landscape design and creation sees the execution of a plan you created or designed. If it is constructed according to the original design, then this satisfaction is even more rewarding. Whether you're a home gardener or designer, or a market gardener, the creation of a produce which you create is a great sense of achievement, as is overcoming the hurdles, such as pests and bugs enjoying the fruits of your labor. Not all things go to plan, but it is an accomplishment to discover new devices and techniques to achieve something and make it easier to achieve.

TIPS TO MAKE ANY PLANT GROW

If filling a pot, to plant lemons, tomatoes, use potting mix and fill the container 4 cm from the top of the container.

Any fertilizers with nutrients which enrich the ground, such as phosphorus, nitrogen and other varieties can be brought from the local shop or hardware store. Composts are an excellent idea, because of the enriched content created from home products, whether it was made from a hot or cold compost the results are similar. An enriched nutrient base for any soil, which is added before the crop or seeds are planted. It is also a good idea to check the quality of the soil you are going to plant your crops.

A device purchased from a local hardware store, can be inserted into the soil, which detects the pH of your soil,

This is important to know, because some crops only grow in alkaline or acidic soil conditions. It is possible to alter the composition of your soil content, before planting your crop if you know this.

I have written some newsletters, which I have published on this gardening website. The information on "Preparation of the soil", is a must for any beginning gardener, unaware of what is needed. The guidance in these, will give you a good chance to not only grow your crop, but grow it bug free and produce a healthy harvest and family enjoyment.

Below is a video I found on a You tube channel, also offering some excellent advice and guidance.

                               There are several types available.

Before planting a crop always study what the plant needs to survive, such as light, moisture and what soil is your ground made up of? Is your soil clay, loam, sandy or chalky, peaty, or silty? You need to prepare your soil appropriately, with fertilizers, and minerals necessary for your ground, before you plant your crop. Watering should be just right, with six to eight hours of sunshine daily. If your garden is in an extremely hot area, covering a plant for protection from the direct sun is a good idea, especially when your crop is growing. The sun's rays can destroy your crop, if it is a very hot day. Planting a crop in an area of your garden that receives the same amount of sun, but isn't as hot, is preferable.

Irrigation is necessary, whether it be from a tank with a stored supply of rainwater, or water from a hose or a ground system on top of the ground, this needs to be decided before you begin.

Test your soil's moisture by picking up the soil and feeling how damp it is when you make a ball out of it. Sandy soil doesn't make a ball. You either plant crops that like your ground's soil and consistency, or alter the soil's pH value by adding nutrients, compost to improve the density, and fertilize the soil's thickness so it can hold water and take up the nutrients into the plant's root system. Once you have become familiar with the type of soil you are going to work with, testing its pH is necessary. Planting the wrong crop without taking into consideration whether the crop grows well in the alkaline or acidic ground, can be the difference between harvesting a crop and the crop not growing.

Tree Preservation & Management

What is tree preservation and management?

This article talks about the benefits of tree preservation, as opposed to deforestation. Trees are good for the environment, because they create a new habitat for flora and fauna to thrive and house animals and insects, of many species. Biodiversity is good for land, trees and forests, and trees are vital for our environment. They clean the air, provide habitat for wildlife, and add aesthetic value to landscapes amongst other things. They have been around for many thousands of years. Deforestation is clearing land or forests, by cutting down the trees. This can be done for many reasons, but quite often a new building development is going to be constructed, such as a new township, or some type of land development, which requires a new landscape. This type of development does take some years to plan. There are reports which need to be submitted to local councils, and governments before the development can begin. This type of project needs ideas and input from interest groups, and the public these days, along with policy makers. Funds also need to be allocated to any project. If a large are of land is to be cleared, the trees and vegetation are removed by loggers. While this is an exciting venture taking place, the benefits of the trees being there also provide great benefit to the environment. Not only do they take up carbon dioxide from the environment, but they supply oxygen for the surrounding environment to live. They encourage a healthy ecosystem, with its lush green vegetation and large sprawling environment and grass areas, which add to the beauty of the areas natural survival.

Mulch & Peper Plants

Mulch and Peper Soil Plants

What mulch is best to use to grow peppers. Is your ground acid or alkaline?

Read this article to find out the answers and the solution if your ground isn't suitable, because it lacks nutrient requirements.

Reading my newsletter on "Soil Preparation."  This newsletter has in depth some of solutions to nutrient deficient soils, with a few valuable guidelines. Visiting your local hardware store is a good idea. They will be able to answer any questions. If they cannot answer you, they will find somebody who can assist.

The same with me. If I cannot give you an answer, I will ask somebody else for assistance.

Advocado

Do you like Avocados? They are good for us and quite easy to make. You can buy them from the local grocery store, or plant seeds in your garden and grow your own. The same as vegetables, which can save you and your family on grocery bills. It is also an exciting way to care for the family's food, likes and dislikes. If you are going to plant a crop of vegetables, plant what the family enjoy eating, unless you're a market gardener, producing crops for locals, neighbors or the community.
